Marbella has been nothing short of ripped to shreds by the British press for the last few years, revelling in the tales of corruption, coining the over used cliche phrase "Costa Del Crime" to sell papers. As a resident of the area for many years, I was delighted to read about Michelle Obama selecting the area for a family holiday, my happiness didn´t last too long, as even this great news manages to garner a less than positive spin at the hands of the Daily Telegraph newspaper - Read the article here
This is an ill-informed, lazy piece of journalism that, despite its positive title, is filled with the usual bullshit that paints a totally inaccurate picture of Marbella. Max Clifford, the PR veteran, gave an interview recently and talked about the mis-representation that the UK press indulges in, regarding the Marbella area. Why does this nonsense make it to print? Tell me where an element of crime doesn´t exist when there is such an extreme concentration of wealth? Nowhere.
I would also like the journalist who penned this rubbish, to tell me where specifically I can buy fish and chips (the traditional english dish, rather than Rosada con patatas fritas) on the beachfront in either Marbella or Puerto Banus? Please do some proper insightful content that portrays the area properly rather than regurgitating the same old tired stories that I am sure most people are sick of reading.
Rant over, I hope Michelle Obama enjoys her stay and speaks frankly about how she found Marbella.
